Newcomer Spotlight: Eseosa Louisa Esangbedo
Meet Eseosa Louisa Esangbedo, known by all her friends as Louisa. Louisa is a big city girl living and enjoying the small city life. Five years ago at only 17 years of age, she made a big decision to move to Cape Breton Island from her hometown in Lagos, Nigeria.
She is a strong, educated professional with a Bachelor’s degree focused in Public Health from Cape Breton University and is a graduate of the class of 2017. During her time at Cape Breton University, she was actively involved in school life by coordinating the international students centre, organizing multicultural activities, promoting student life and being involved with the intra-mural activities on campus. She excelled both academically and socially and this contributed to her being voted the Class Valedictorian.
Louisa currently works at Samson McPhee Law Office in Sydney as a Legal Assistant, and also spends time volunteering at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital ER department. Louisa is currently a Fellow at Venture for Canada, a non-profit organization that trains graduates and fosters entrepreneurship in Canada. She is also a new member of the Cape Breton Local Immigration Partnership’s Immigrant Advisory Table, and is excited to give back to the Island in whatever way she can.
In the future, Louisa has dreams to work in the health sector, specifically global health and health promotion. When Louisa is not busy working or watching Netflix, she spends her time with the kids from her church youth group where she is one of the youth leaders and also with friends and loved ones.
